About FitFund®

We are FitFund

Who:

FitFund is a community of Athletes, Donors, Campaign Organizers, and Beneficiary Representatives. Our users can function in all four roles, utilizing our services and technologies for a variety of purposes.

To all who share our vision, we welcome them to create a profile and register as members of our community. FitFund does not discriminate based on ethnicity, nationality, sex, gender identity, sexual preference, ability, religion, size, socio-economic status, or age. For their safety, users aged 18 and under are unable to use our GPS tracking feature. Instead, minors can record their distances using manual entry or our pedometer system. Minors also have limited access to certain app features, including direct messaging and identifiable profile images.

Athletes must agree to the Terms of Service and create a profile before participating in a FitFund campaign. Athletes and all members can browse, search, and join current or upcoming campaigns. Results from previous campaigns are also available for review. Once registered for a campaign, athletes can immediately seek sponsorships (pledges) for participation. When seeking sponsorship, athletes may use either personal or automated messages. If authorized by the athlete, FitFund will send notifications reminding them of campaign start times and alert them about new pledges and new athletes joining the campaign.

Upon completion of a campaign, FitFund will publish campaign results, including statistics about participating athletes and donors. This information is consolidated into leaderboards that can be viewed on feeds, archived events, beneficiary pages, and member profiles.

Donors must agree to the Terms of Service and set up an online payment method before making donations. Donors may choose to create a profile, donate anonymously, or donate as guests.

Making a donation to a Beneficiary assumes that the Donor has familiarized themselves with the Beneficiary through the FitFund Beneficiary Page or other sources and is financially willing and able to contribute. Donors acknowledge their understanding of FitFund’s fees and the portion of gross campaign funds distributed to the Beneficiary. In addition, donors may authorize FitFund to charge their credit or debit card for the total donation amount they select.

Donors can choose to donate either as a flat-rate pledge or on a per-mile basis.

Flat-rate pledges are independent of the distance traveled by the athlete. Donors may contribute to the campaign as a whole or sponsor a specific athlete participating in the campaign. When making a flat-rate pledge, donors can choose from suggested amounts or manually enter a donation amount. Flat-rate donors understand that their donations will be processed immediately upon authorization.

For per-mile pledges, the total donation amount depends on the distance traveled by the sponsored athlete. Donors may sponsor multiple athletes within a campaign. During the campaign, FitFund tracks athlete distances using mapping data from smartphones or other GPS-enabled devices. Distances may also be entered manually to accommodate activities performed on treadmills, stationary bikes, swimming pools, and for users under 18 years of age. Per-mile donors can select from suggested pledge amounts or create a custom pledge. Common pledge amounts include $1, $5, $10, $20, or $25 per mile.

At the conclusion of the campaign, once athlete distances are finalized, FitFund will calculate and send a Donation Suggestion to each donor who made a per-mile pledge. The suggested amount equals the athlete’s total miles traveled multiplied by the donor’s selected per-mile rate. For example, if a donor pledged $10 per mile and the athlete completed 10 miles, the suggested donation would be $100. The Donation Suggestion may be adjusted by the donor to any amount they feel comfortable contributing. The Donation Suggestion is not an invoice.

Per-mile donors are given a three-day grace period to complete or modify their Donation Suggestion. After this period, campaign results become final and are published on event and all-time leaderboards. Donations completed after the grace period are still accepted; however, they will not be reflected on event or all-time leaderboards and will only appear on the donor’s profile page and the beneficiary’s page. Anonymous donors are not included on leaderboards.

All donors who make a financial contribution to a beneficiary will receive a receipt containing relevant tax information and other details related to their continued use of FitFund.

Campaign Organizers create campaigns on behalf of participating athletes and beneficiary organizations. Organizers can customize campaigns to meet the needs of the communities they serve. Campaigns must be scheduled for a duration ranging from 24 to 72 hours. Organizers are required to select a beneficiary from FitFund’s list of approved organizations. After selecting a beneficiary, organizers must complete the remaining campaign details, including the title, images or artwork, and fundraising goals. These elements help make each campaign unique and tailored to its specific cause and community.

When the campaign details are complete, FitFund will suggest that the Campaign Organizer send participation invitations. These invitations will include a message from the Campaign Organizer, a summary of the event, and a participation link. Campaign Organizers may customize the design and style of these invitations as they see fit.

Recipients of the invitation may register as athletes and/or sponsor a registered athlete. They may also send similar invitations to individuals within their own contact networks. This cycle can continue until the official end time of the campaign.

Beneficiary Representatives can create Beneficiary profiles through FitFund’s application process. The application includes information such as, but not limited to, the beneficiary title, affiliation, primary contact information, banking information for fund distribution, and an explanation of how the funds will be used.

Prior to being listed as an approved Beneficiary, FitFund and the Beneficiary Representative must enter into a contractual agreement. This agreement outlines standard operating procedures, including the distribution percentages of gross campaign funds. For campaigns generating less than $10,000, FitFund receives 6% of campaign funds. For campaigns generating between $10,000 and $20,000, FitFund receives 5%. For campaigns generating more than $20,000, FitFund receives 4% of gross campaign funds.

Once approved, Beneficiaries remain on FitFund’s approved beneficiary list and may be selected by an unlimited number of Campaign Organizers. Some Beneficiary applications may be approved in less than 24 hours, while others may require up to five days for review.

Ensuring that funds are used for their intended purpose is extremely important to FitFund, as well as to the athletes and donors who support campaigns financially. Therefore, Beneficiary Representatives are required to provide updates on their Beneficiary Pages through images and written content that demonstrate how the funds have impacted the Beneficiary.

Failure or negligence to provide these updates within three months of receiving funds from FitFund may constitute a breach of the Beneficiary–FitFund Agreement. Such a breach may result in removal from the approved beneficiary list and could lead to suspension or a permanent ban from the platform, including restrictions on future approval.
